A1 Construction (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website a1construction.ie. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

A1 Construction is a landscaping and outdoor construction business based in Dublin, Ireland, serving Dublin and the surrounding counties.

For the purposes of GDPR, A1 Construction is the data controller for any personal information collected through this website.

2. What we collect and why

2.1 Information you submit through the contact form

When you submit our contact form we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (optional)
  • The service you’re interested in (optional)
  • The message you send us

We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry and to follow up about the project you contacted us about. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell it.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR — processing is necessary in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract.

2.2 Technical information

Our web host (Hostinger) collects standard server logs (IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and diagnostics. These logs are retained by our host and are not used for profiling.

2.3 Cookies

This website does not set any tracking or advertising cookies. Your browser may store a small session identifier from our form plugin (Contact Form 7) to validate submissions; this is a functional cookie and does not track you across sites.

3. How long we keep it

  • Contact form submissions: stored in our WordPress database for up to 24 months after last contact, then deleted.
  • Email correspondence: retained while the project is active and for 6 years afterwards to satisfy Irish tax and contractual record-keeping obligations, then deleted.
  • Server access logs: retained by our host in line with their policy (typically 30–90 days).

4. Who we share it with

We share your information only with service providers who help us run the site and our business. We do not sell or rent personal data.

  • Hostinger — web hosting and server logs.
  • WordPress.org plugin providers — specifically Contact Form 7 and Contact Form CFDB7, which store your submission in our site’s own database (no data leaves our server).
  • Google Fonts & jsDelivr — CDNs serving fonts and a small JavaScript library. They receive your IP address when your browser fetches those assets; no personal data is sent.

We may disclose information if required by law, a court order, or to protect our legal rights.

5. International transfers

Our web host Hostinger is headquartered in Lithuania (EU). Google Fonts and jsDelivr are served from global CDNs, which may route requests outside the EEA. These providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for any transfers outside the EEA.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate information.
  • Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — subject to our legal record-keeping obligations.
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to submitted form data is restricted to authorised A1 Construction personnel. We don’t store payment information on this site.

8. Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the homepage for at least 30 days.
